The normally quiet Edenvale neighborhood is now the site of San Jose's 25th homicide of the year.

"It's kind of crazy, you know, I don't think it's all set in yet," neighbor Jake Schmidt said.

A 15-year-old boy was found stabbed multiple times in his backyard on Comanche Drive.

Police are still trying to pin down what happened.

"Right now it doesn't appear as though this is gang-related, but we're still in the early stages of exactly the investigation and what's going on out here," San Jose Police Officer Jermaine Thomas said.

A next door neighbor heard some commotion outside about 8:30 last night and found the boy's mother in the yard.

"She was frantic obviously; she said something about her son had been stabbed and she wasn't sure how he was doing," Robert Dette said.

Police have not released the boy's name.

No suspect has been identified.

The family moved into the rental home less than a month ago and had not made friends yet with nearby residents.

Neighbors say their concern now is for the safety of their children.

"I am very concerned about her walking back and forth to the school, we make sure she walks with the neighbors next door; when she walks the dog we make sure she partners up someone else from the neighborhood," Jeanette Schnell said.

What puzzles neighbors is that they did not hear any signs of a struggle or attack.

Relatives told ABC7 that the boy was home alone Tuesday night.

Clearly this is a difficult time for this neighborhood as residents wrestle with what happened. It will also be a tough day for the classmates of the victim as they go back to school after the holiday.
