A pedestrian was fatally struck by a big-rig on northbound U.S. Highway 101 in unincorporated Gilroy early this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The male pedestrian was struck shortly before 1:55 a.m. on northbound Highway 101 just south of Masten Avenue, a CHP dispatcher said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
