A gull is getting a little rest and relaxation after being found with a knotted ribbon wrapped tightly around its neck. The ribbon was the same kind people might find tied to a balloon.

A group called Wildlife Emergency Services tended to the bird at San Lorenzo Park in Santa Cruz.

It took a few minutes to cut through the ribbon but rescuers are not sure if someone tied the ribbon around the bird's neck on purpose.

The gull, which nearly choked to death was treated by a vet and will be released after a full recovery.
