Light earthquake shakes South Bay

An earthquake with a 3.4 preliminary magnitude struck 8 miles northeast of San Jose at 12:02 p.m.

A 3.4-magnitude earthquake was recorded in Santa Clara County at midday Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The earthquake occurred at 12:02 p.m. and was centered 4 miles northeast of East Foothills near Alum Rock Park, USGS officials said.
