MORGAN HILL, Calif. -- A 22-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in Morgan Hill after allegedly stealing two cellphones and using stolen credit cards to buy merchandise at a Target store, a police spokesman said Wednesday
Colby Worsham, of Morgan Hill, turned himself in at the Morgan Hill Police Department after officers sought the public's assistance in tracking him down in connection with the thefts, police Capt. Shane Palsgrove said.
On July 8, a woman living in the 16700 block of Buckskin Court reported that two of her credit cards were missing and had been used at some businesses in the city.
The woman told police that Worsham had stayed at her home the previous night.
Officers went to one of the businesses, a Target store at 1061 Cochrane Road, where employees provided surveillance video showing Worsham using the stolen credit cards, Palsgrove said.
On July 22, officers were dispatched to a skate park at the Centennial Recreation Center at 171 W. Edmundson Ave. after a female victim reported that a man had swiped her cellphone from a counter at the park, Palsgrove said.
Police identified Worsham as the suspect in the theft after reviewing surveillance video taken at the skate park, Palsgrove said.
Four days later, police responded to the Verizon Wireless store at 253 Vineyard Blvd. after receiving a report from store workers who said a male suspect asked to see an iPhone 5 and then ran off with it.
Worsham was also identified as the suspect in that theft, Palsgrove said.
Morgan Hill police requested the public's assistance in finding Worsham, and his family and friends helped convince him to surrender, police said.
He was arrested on suspicion of burglary, larceny, and fraudulent use of credit cards, Palsgrove said.
