A beautiful "prominence eruption" shot off the east limb of the sun yesterday.
Well that's how NASA scientists would describe it. In terms we can understand, it's a solar flare erupting from the left side of the sun. It unleashed super-heated plasma that arched above the sun's surface before blasting into space. It is a stunning image, but scientists aren't that impressed. On a scale that rates the flare strength, they say this one is only "moderate."
