NEW YORK -- The FBI says a package at John F. Kennedy International Airport that was tested after two customs workers reported they felt ill after opening it contained beauty supplies.
FBI spokesman J. Peter Donald said Sunday the package was tested and it was determined to contain beauty supplies only. He said agents have cleared the scene.
He said the employees and the package were tested and screened out of "an abundance of caution." The FBI testing followed some initial tests that indicated a possible cause for concern.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which oversees the airport, hasn't responded to a call seeking comment.
Customs and Border Patrol referred questions to the FBI.
