ESPN 100 guard Brandone Francis (Jacksonville, Fla./Arlington Country Day) committed to Florida on Thursday.
He chose the Gators over Cincinnati, Connecticut, Florida State, Indiana, Louisville, Miami, Minnesota and West Virginia.
Francis, who can play either backcourt position, is ranked the nation's No. 34 recruit in the Class of 2014. He joins ESPN 100 point guard Chris Chiozza (Memphis, Tenn./White Station) to give Florida two top-50 commitments in the rising senior class and move the Gators to No. 5 in the 2014 class rankings.
"Florida is just a great fit for me," Francis said. "Billy Donovan told me he had a plan for me to make me a pro. I really like how they play. A lot of pick-and-rolls -- it just fits me. I like how they play with three guards most of the time.
"Florida has been my dream school. I watched them win back-to-back championships, and when Billy Donovan offered me, it was a dream come true. I can't wait to put on that jersey."
Francis is known as a strong, athletic guard with great size at 6 feet 5, 205 pounds. He is considered one of the tougher matchups in the 2014 class because of his size, versatility and ability to score, pass and produce at either guard spot. Francis likely will be expected to make an immediate impact for the Gators as a freshman.
When they join forces at Florida in 2014, Francis and Chiozza are projected to form a dynamic backcourt that can play together or provide versatility for Donovan. The 5-11 Chiozza is a pass-first, true point guard.
With his college commitment out of the way, Francis can now focus on the rest of his summer slate of basketball. Next up is the LeBron James Skills Academy in Las Vegas in early July before joining his Florida Elite travel team for the adidas Invitational in Indianapolis in mid-July.
