49er playoff tickets to go on sale Wednesday

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- 49er fans got what they wanted: the NFC championship game will take place at Candlestick, giving the team home field advantage and fans, another chance to root for the Niners in person.

There was no question who 49er fans were rooting for Sunday.

"Oh, Giants fan today, absolutely," said a 49ers fan.

At stake was who would get home field advantage in next week's NFC championship. For the game to be held at Candlestick Park, the New York Giants had to beat the favored Green Bay Packers. Niner fans got their wish.

"You never discount home field advantage and we've already beat the Giants this season, so we've got experience playing them, so probably a better chance to advance to the Super Bowl," said a 49ers fan.

For Irving Garcia, home field advantage means he can experience the playoff excitement all over again. He was at Candlestick during Saturday's dramatic playoff game against the Saints.

"I've never been to a 49ers game like it was yesterday. Just the intensity, everybody wearing red, the game was the best game I've ever been too. It would be worth going back to watch one more game," said Garcia.

Tickets officially go on sale on Wednesday. Season ticket holders will get first crack at 10 a.m. and then the general public at 1 p.m. No more than four tickets each will be made available. Online marketplaces like StubHub, tickets are already on sale and the cheapest seats are going for more than three times as much as they were for last Saturday's game. At last check, the cheapest tickets for next week's game are about $400, about $5,000 on the high end.

"The stakes are that much higher. You've got one more win to go to the Super Bowl," said StubHub spokesperson Joellen Ferrer.

Ferrer says if you're picky about where you sit, get your tickets now. But if you're looking for the best deal, it's best to wait it out.

"If they're looking just to get into the game, maybe they're willing to wait it out a few days. You can certainly play the market a bit. Wait until even game day itself and you can find probably find a more attractive price because the market will settle," said Ferrer.

Whatever price fans will end up paying -- they say it will be money well spent. After all, it's been years since the Niners have played in the NFC championship.

"You know what, I'm going to have to put in a lot of overtime to pay for those tickets. But it will be worth it. It will be worth it," said a 49ers fan.
