There is an urgent call to conserve electricity in Northern California.

There is an urgent call to conserve electricity in Northern California after a downed transmission line has drastically reduced the power flow into northern half of the state.

Early Tuesday morning, the storm knocked down a 500,000 volt transmitter near Los Banos.

No power outages occurred because of the downed line, but Cal ISO is asking all residents in Northern California to conserve as much power as possible through 10 p.m. while they work on repairing the line.
