DOWNEY, Calif. -- The Los Angeles County coroner's office plans an autopsy on a 16-year-old boy who collapsed moments after scoring a touchdown in a high school football game and died two days later.
Hundreds of people held a tearful memorial service at a park in Downey on Saturday night for Dodi Soza. The teenager died earlier in the day at a Long Beach hospital.
Many, including friends, teammates and players from rival teams, held candles and clutched white balloons.
Several players also wore white jerseys, Soza's team color, with his uniform number, 23, on the front.
Witnesses say the junior Downey High School running back had just scored a touchdown Thursday against rival Lynwood High School when he collapsed.
