DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: This position serves as the primary financial manager for the News department. Duties include responsibility for payroll input processing, accounts payable processing, development of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts and a variety of activities involved in assisting the News Director and Controller in managing the News department finances.
Ability to work with union contracts in order to ensure payroll processing is correct and to assist in making efficient operational decisions for department includes over 100 employees. Evaluation and implementation of contractual arrangements for a variety of services utilized by the News department to ensure they meet operational requirements and financial objectives. This position requires the ability to develop annual budgets and periodic forecasts that set forth the financial goals for the News department.
Degree in Accounting or Business is required, with at least 3-5 years of experience in a medium to large company. Media and news department experience is preferred.
Key competencies:
1) Work well under pressure with tight deadlines and shifting priorities;
2) Must have exceptional interpersonal and verbal skills with strong organizational skills;
3) Strong PC skills with spreadsheets and word processing in a Windows environment, and
4) Experience in an SAP environment is a significant plus.
