"Profiles of Excellence" is an Emmy Award-winning series produced by the ABC7 Public Affairs Department to celebrate the Bay Area's rich cultural diversity. For the past 21 years, the program has been featuring local residents who have made important contributions to the community.
Hosted by ABC7 News Anchor Eric Thomas, "Profiles of Excellence" features five truly impressive individuals.
Donna Sachet: Our first profile introduces you to a performer known for her quick wit, her unique voice, and her constant support of local charities. Donna Sachet has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for numerous organizations through hard work and a lot of sequins.

Kathy Martinez: Our final profile is a trailblazer in the disability rights community. Kathy Martinez has worked hard to increase job opportunities for Latinos with disabilities and reduce poverty. With an impressive reputation locally and internationally, she was recently confirmed by President Barrack Obama as Assistant Secretary for the Office of Disability Employment Policy for the Department of Labor. World Institute on Disability is excited to announce its signature event, "Ever Widening Circle," coming up on October 30th in Oakland. This year's headliner is the legendary Janis Ian and promises to be an inspiring and memorable evening.

The Museum of Performance and Design is the backdrop of our special program. Located on the fourth floor of the historic Veterans Building in San Francisco's Civic Center, the Museum produces world-class exhibitions, lectures and presentations by and about leading artists. Currently in the gallery is "Star Quality: The World of Noël Coward." While many audiences recognize Noël Coward as a playwright, this exhibition reflects his talents as a director of plays and movies, actor, cabaret artist, wartime patriot, painter, and patron of charitable causes. Coming up August 19th, the Museum is screening, for the first time in 80 years, original footage of his 1929 production of "Bitter Sweet," with songs from the show performed live by "Lamplighters Music Theatre."
