Grace C. Stanislaus

Trained as an art historian, Executive Director Grace C. Stanislaus was the President & CEO of the Romare Bearden Foundation in New York before assuming her position at MoAD. She was formerly curator at the Studio Museum in Harlem, Executive Director of the Bronx Museum of the Arts and of the Museum for African Art, New York and Senior Vice President of the August Wilson Center for African American Culture in Pittsburgh.

Ms. Stanislaus has a Master of Arts degree in art history from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in art history from Fordham University in the Bronx, where she graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She has lectured and participated in panels and conferences nationally and internationally focused on African, African American and African Diaspora art, culture and issues and on issues related to philanthropy and the museum field. She was trained through the Getty Center Museum Management Institute Training Program, has served on a number of nonprofit boards and is currently on the board of the California Association of Museums. She is also a member of Art Table, a national organization of women in leadership positions in the arts.
