Mar. 5 - BCN -- A 24-year-old Suisun City woman is dead following a crash in unincorporated Solano County this morning that investigators believe was caused by reckless driving.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Jason Boyes, 34, of Rio Vista was driving up to 90 mph in his 1995 Ford Mustang westbound on state Highway 12 just before the accident occurred at 6:58 a.m. Witnesses told investigators Boyes was driving recklessly, crossing the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic to pass multiple vehicles, the CHP reported.
Boyes then crashed his Mustang head-on into the woman's 1995 Hyundai Sonata as she drove eastbound in a passing lane near Birds Landing Road east of Suisun City. She was pronounced dead by responding medical personnel, the CHP reported.
The Solano County coroner's office has not released her identity, pending notification of her family.
Boyes suffered major injuries in the crash and was flown by helicopter to John Muir Medical Center, the CHP reported.
The accident shut down traffic on Highway 12 for about two hours.
Several drivers stopped to assist the crash victims following the accident, the CHP reported.
