A major-injury collision involving a wrong-way driver on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 in Richmond is blocking two lanes this afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported around 12:45 p.m. just west of Hilltop Drive and involved at least two vehicles, CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano said.

The driver of the vehicle traveling in the wrong direction suffered major injuries, according to Caggiano.

The two left lanes are blocked while emergency personnel respond to the crash and a Sig-alert was issued around 1 p.m.
