Bay Bridge may open before construction is complete

OAKLAND, CA (KGO) -- Bay Bridge officials are now considering opening the new eastern span to drivers before construction work is completely finished.

There have been many delays building the new span, so now, officials say things like architectural lighting, paint and the removal of temporary structures could be finished after the span opens to traffic.

Caltrans hopes to have the span completely open before 2014.
