Fire forces temporary closure of I-280 in SF

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

Traffic was temporarily diverted in San Francisco at 6th Street off the NB I-280 extension because of a fire under the freeway.

Around 7 a.m., the San Francisco Fire Department received reports of smoke coming from under the freeway. When the SFFD got on scene they found trash and a bungalow on fire in a homeless encampment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and nobody was injured. Caltrans is checking the structure to see if there are any damages.
