Born in Japan, Manabu Horiuchi or "Chef Hori", as everyone calls him, began his culinary journey at 16, cooking in the kitchen of a retirement home, along with his mother. He always knew that he wanted to be a chef, but never imagined the praise he would receive for his art. He attended Japan's top culinary school and graduated with honors. After honing his skills in several of Japan's celebrated restaurants, Hori moved to Houston to serve as the Consulate General's Official Executive Chef, cooking for many high profile guests. The chef then transitioned back into the restaurant business and eventually earned creative control of Kata Robata's kitchen, where he continues amaze customers with new and exciting flavors. Cadillac Culinary Masters -
Cadillac and ABC-13 have come together to recognize Culinary Masters in the Houston area. This partnership was created in an effort to pay tribute to Houston's finest chefs. To qualify for this prestigious honor, Chefs must meet the criteria established by our panel of judges. Each month, the selected chef will feature a 'Cadillac Culinary Masters' inspired menu with proceeds benefiting the Houston Food Bank. The donations from the 2013 Cadillac Culinary Masters Series provided meals for over 25,000 local families.
