Teams of architects, designers, engineers and contractors unleashed their tools on East Beach in Galveston for what is considered one of the world's largest sandcastle competitions, held on June 5, 2010. The Houston Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) sponsors this annual contest where some 80 teams had their eyes (and shovels) set on winning the prestigious 'Golden Bucket' award.

Enthusiastic campers take to the waves off the beach below the seawall in Galveston with Ohana Surf Camps. Instructors share their passion for the sport by teaching the basics and beyond to students ages 6 to 17. (Too old or young? Private lessons are available.)
