Donna grew up in Asheville, North Carolina and after college and a few years working in her hometown, she accepted an invitation from her Congressman to go to Washington. She planned to stay one year and then go to law school back home but she stayed fifteen years and never made it to law school. After fourteen years of working on Capitol Hill, Donna received a Presidential appointment and went to the Pentagon. Shortly after, Donna married Bob Bruni in 1982 less than three months after they meet and moved to Texas.
She is active in many charities in the Houston area including the Houston Grand Opera, The Houston Ballet, Linda Lorelle Scholarship Fund, Citizens for Animal Protection and Hermann Park Conservancy to names a few. She has held leadership roles as well as board positions for many of these groups. She recently was the lead sponsor for the Brilliant Lecture series with Betty White. Donna actively works on any project she commits to and always ensures it will be successful. Today Donna and Robert divide their time between Houston, San Antonio and Santa Fe. All three cities benefit from their community support. ( Photo / Gittings)
