DPS: Violent, high-risk sex offender John Enard on the loose after escaping Houston halfway house

The Texas Department of Public Safety announced Saturday afternoon that a sexually violent predator escaped from a Houston halfway house and is now on the loose.

John Michael Enard is now on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender list, and there is a $3,000 cash reward for information leading to his capture.

Enard, 58, reportedly removed his ankle monitor at 1:38am Saturday and fled a local halfway house, located at 10950 Beaumont Highway.

He was paroled to that location on December 11. Enard was convicted of burglary with intent to rape on four counts and three counts of sexual assault, and he was sentenced to 10 years with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in 1982. He was serving a 75-year sentence since 1986 for aggravated kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault when he was paroled from TDCJ last month.

According to officials, Enard has threatened to rape again before he goes back to prison.

He has family in Houston and Lafayette, Louisiana.

Enard has scars on his forehead, face and left knee. Do not attempt to apprehend this fugitive; he is considered armed and dangerous.
