Dr. Murray's spokesperson told us he gets 20 to 30 calls a day asking about his well-being so he decided to record a video on Wednesday here in Houston.
During the minute-long video, Dr. Murray said he's afraid to return phone calls or use his email. He thanks his patients, friends and supporters and says his faith will help him. Dr. Murray does not talk directly about the Jackson case.
"I want to thank all of my patients and friends who've sent such kind emails, letters and messages to let me know of your support and prayers for me and my family," said Dr. Murray in the video.
Dr. Murray's spokesperson says the video was not meant to address the investigation into the death of Michael Jackson. Dr. Murray treated Jackson and was with the singer when he died in June. Authorities believe Dr. Murray administered a powerful anesthetic to Jackson the day he died. Police have not filed any charges against Dr. Murray.
Our legal analyst says the doctor would have been better off not making the video.
"He never denied what could be the crime. He never was adamant about that he provided professional assistance, he never said anything to give anybody any degree that he has a defense," said KTRK Legal Analyst Joel Androphy.
He also says the video could possibly influence a potential jury pool in Los Angeles.
You can see the entire video of Dr. Murray's message here.
