Grandmother ran over two little girls playing in front yard

Monday, January 16, 2006

Two little girls are recovering after being accidentally run over while playing in the yard. The accident happened at a home on Earlmist near Aldine Westfield in northeast Harris County.

The woman behind the wheel was the grandmother of one of the children. She told investigators the gas pedal got stuck while she was backing out of a driveway, causing her to drive into the yard where the two children were playing.

Both girls, ages seven and eight, were taken to the hospital. The seven-year-old has a broken jaw, while the other girl suffered a collapsed lung. They are both expected to be OK.
