(1/19/06 - KTRK/HOUSTON) (KTRK) -- Houston police dealt with two chases overnight, one of which forced officers to shut down part of Interstate 10 to pick up drugs off of the freeway.
Officers tried to pull a man over after allegedly witnessing a drug deal. They say the driver tossed the drugs while trying to get away on the freeway.
He later pulled over and was taken into custody. Investigators believe they recovered some crack rocks from the freeway.
Another chase started when officers tried to pull a suspect over for speeding and running a red light.
The man took off, lost control, and crashed into a utility pole on South Main and Greenbriar. The suspect is in hospital in stable condition. He's facing felony charges of evading arrest and driving under the influence.
