(2/09/06 - KTRK/HOUSTON) (KTRK) -- A driver is lucky to be alive after falling asleep behind the wheel.
The woman nodded off and ran her car into a ravine near Kirkwood and Buffalo Bayou. She managed to walk a quarter of a mile to a nearby convenience store to call 911. Police had actually already arrived at the scene by the time she returned.
Officers were worried the driver had been thrown from the vehicle and was lying hurt or even dead somewhere. Luckily, she only suffered injuries to her ribs and was taken to the hospital.
