Trial put on hold due to lack of hotel rooms during big game

Wednesday, February 15, 2006

Jurors in the re-trial of Max Soffar now get a break, for now. It's more a fast break, than a legal one.

The man who spent 25 years on death row for a triple murder was granted a new trial. Testimony ended on Wednesday. But instead of deliberating, the jurors are resting. With the NBA All Star game in town, there are no hotel rooms for the jury to be sequestered. They'll get a break until Tuesday morning.

Despite the fact that Soffar confessed to the crime, his lawyers say the confessions were made up and don't match what an eyewitness saw.
