Teacher sickened after students tainted her coffee

Monday, February 27, 2006

A teacher became ill after a prank, and now four students have been suspended.

Four girls at Sheldon Intermediate school are serving in school suspension after they put dry erase cleaner in their teacher's coffee. The incident happened in mid-February. The sixth-graders served two days of suspension out of school, and 10 days in-school suspension.

The teacher was in the hallway between classes when the girls slipped the substance into her coffee as it was sitting on her desk. The teacher took a sip of the drink, but did not finish it.

Later, the teacher realized the container of cleaner was nearly empty. She suffered mild stomach problems that evening. She chose not to press charges.
