Man robbed, shot, then shoved into trunk

Thursday, March 23, 2006

It was a terrifying night for a man who was robbed, shot, and then shoved in a trunk.

The ordeal, which lasted about an hour, started at a convenience store off Highway 59 and ended at I-10 at Waco in east Houston, not far from downtown.

The victim tells police around 2am, he drove his Mercedes to a convenience store on Highway 59, but once there, two men jumped him. They robbed him and then shot him in the leg.

The armed suspects put him in the trunk and drove around for a while. The 39-year-old was somehow able to break free from the trunk once the car had stopped somewhere around Sharon and Upton Amboy.

The victim ran out to a construction crew on I-10 eastbound to get help for his injuries. An ambulance crew took him to the hospital.

Police are still looking for the two men responsible.
