Drug dog finds 700 pounds of pot worth $800,000 in pickup

Thursday, April 06, 2006

What started as a traffic stop ended up being a huge drug bust for officers in southeast Harris County.

More than 700 pounds of marijuana were found hidden in air conditioner crates in the back of the suspect's truck. Officers pulled over the truck for a traffic stop along Scarsdale at Beamer. When the driver didn't have any ID and didn't even know why the crates were on the truck, they got suspicious.

Drug dogs were called out, and quickly made the find. The drugs are said to have a street value of about $800,000.
