Police seek rapist who targeted shopper

Wednesday, April 19, 2006

Police are hoping the public can help them catch a rapist on the loose who targeted a woman at a grocery store.

Crime Stoppers and Harris County Sheriff's Office investigators are seeking the public's help in identifying and arresting a suspect involved in the aggravated kidnapping and sexual assault of a woman from the Kroger store parking lot at 18030 FM 529 in Northwest Harris County.

The incident occurred Sunday, March 26 at approximately 11:10pm. Harris County deputies responded to a 911 call by a witness who described a black male who abducted a 50-year-old white female in her own vehicle. The suspect forced the woman to withdraw cash from an ATM and then sexually assaulted her at a remote area near Barker Cypress. The suspect then released the woman and fled in an older model dark-colored SUV.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for any information leading to the arrest and charging of any suspect in this case. Private sources are offering up to $5,000 additional. Callers are urged to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous, and may earn up to $10,000 in total cash rewards.
