(6/02/06 - KTRK/HOUSTON) (KTRK) -- A Houston police officer who criticized the department on our air was fired Friday.
Thomas Nixon showed up at the scene of head-on crash that came at the end of a high-speed chase in January. He criticized HPD's chase policy and said he was embarrassed to be a Houston officer at the time.
Nixon was fired Friday for what the department calls his "inappropriate remarks" to the public.
