Bar customers robbed by armed men

Tuesday, July 11, 2006

Several armed men walked into a northeast Houston cantina overnight and ordered the customers to the ground. Police think the same men may be responsible for other similar hold-ups.

Police were called to the Kalyrumba night club around 1am Tuesday after the robbery took place. Authorities said that at least five men went into the club with knives and guns.

They demanded that all of the customers inside get down. Police say they then robbed the cash register and also took wallets and other belongings from the customers inside before taking off.

Once police arrived on the scene, they called out a helicopter to search for the suspects. They were able to track down one one of them, who was found behind the club. At least four more are still on the run.

None of the customers was injured. Authorities said that the suspects could be connected to a string of other robberies at several other clubs on the northeast side of town. Officers hope the suspect taken into custody will give them clues as to the identities of the other suspects involved.
