Sleeping motorist causes multiple-car wreck

Wednesday, August 02, 2006

There was quite a mess on the North Freeway Tuesday night involving an 18-wheeler and four other vehicles.

Houston police officers say a drowsy driver decided to stop his car and sleep in a lane on the North Freeway near Little York. Witnesses knocked on his window to wake him up.

Two other cars crashed into each other while trying to miss the stopped car, but a fourth vehicle, an SUV, hit it anyway. Then, the driver of an 18-wheeler slammed into a guardrail and flipped to avoid hitting any of the stopped cars.

No one was seriously hurt.
