Armed robbers leave big clue behind at crime scene

Monday, August 07, 2006

Authorities hope a gun left behind in a store will help them track down bandits accused of robbing a northeast Harris County convenience store.

Harris County officials say two armed men barged into a store on Aldine Westfield near Hardy Sunday morning. They demanded money from store clerk and took off, but left a gun. An eyewitness saw the robbers try to go back for the weapon before officers arrived.

"I happen to look over and I and said, 'Man, that don't look right' and saw some black guys running back and forth, running towards the car parked in that back wooded area," said Jacob Frausto.

He told authorities the robbers got away in a silver car. Deputies dusted the gun and cash register for fingerprints.
