Police checking on man found him dead, with 300 pot plants

Tuesday, August 15, 2006

A marijuana farm in Grimes County has been shut down.

Narcotics agents confiscated more than 300 pot plants growing in a pasture off FM 1486 near the town of Richards. A relative originally called deputies to the house when the man who lived there couldn't be found. His body was found inside the house. It's believed he died of natural causes.

Police found drug paraphernalia in the house and hundreds of marijuana plants outside. The half a million dollar operation was just getting off the ground.

The man who lived in the house had been busted twice before for growing marijuana -- once in the 90s and once in the 70s.
