Pin Oak Middle School student suspended for creating a hit list

(12/5/06 - KTRK/HOUSTON) (KTRK) -- A middle school student won't be in class Wednesday morning. She's accused of creating a hit list.

The principal of Pin Oak Middle School suspended the 12-year-old girl who is in 7th grade.

HISD officials say there isn't an indication that she intended to harm anyone, but did list several names on a piece of paper that was seen on a school bus last Friday.

"She even indicated during our course of the conversations with her that some of the names she made up. So we don't know what to make of it yet, but we always try to take those kinds of things seriously," said HISD spokesperson Terry Abbott.

Abbott says only one of the names on the list has turned out to be real. The student has been suspended for three days and won't be allowed to ride the bus.
