Evidence missing in alleged police bribery case

Tuesday, January 23, 2007

Prosecutors say they're missing evidence in the case of a Houston police officer, accused of taking a bribe in exchange for letting a speeder off the hook.

Officer Alfred Alaniz was in court briefly yesterday. He's still working on finding an attorney. Prosecutors say they're missing the $200 Alaniz is accused of accepting during an undercover investigation, and they've launched an investigation in hopes of finding the money.

Even without the money, prosecutors say they have enough evidence to proceed with the case.
