Coast Guard rescues man from offshore rig

Tuesday, March 13, 2007

A man is recovering in a Galveston hospital after being injured on an offshore oil rig.

The Coast Guard launched a rescue helicopter yesterday to pick up the man near Sabine Pass. Authorities report the man was working on a rig near High Island when he suffered a broken arm and possibly broken ribs.

Rig crew members were able to move him to a vessel that was heading towards shore when the Coast Guard arrived.
