Deputies raid strip club in north Houston

Friday, March 23, 2007

We know more about the people who got arrested during a strip club raid in north Harris County Friday afternoon.

Sheriff's deputies and agents with the Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission raided the Saint James Place Cabaret this afternoon. Officers arrested nine people on various charges. They picked up three people on narcotics charges and two people on open warrants. Deputies also arrested four topless dancers but did not reveal the charges against them.

Several weeks ago, a judge ruled the city of Houston has the constitutional right to establish distance requirements for sexually oriented businesses. Strip clubs and other S.O.B.s must sit more than 1,500 feet from churches, schools, parks or licensed daycares. Sexually oriented businesses must also be a thousand feet from other sexually oriented businesses, and cannot operate in residential areas.
