Standoff with pregnant woman threatening suicide ends peacefully

(4/15/07 - KTRK/HOUSTON) (KTRK) -- Houston police defused a suicide attempt that turned into a standoff.

Around 9pm last night, police arrived at the Aberdeen Apartments on Woodchase. A pregnant woman in one of the units claimed to have a handgun and wanted to take her own life.

Police say she was upset over her relationship with her boyfriend. Just before 1am, she surrendered and was taken to a mental health facility for evaluation. No charges will be filed.
