Officers find bags of marijuana hidden in truckload of mangos

Thursday, April 26, 2007

A routine truck inspection led to a huge drug bust.

HPD officers discovered what they describe as a significant amount of marijuana inside an 18-wheeler that was pulled over. About 1,400 pounds of marijuana wrapped in trash bags were hidden behind a load of mangos.

The 27-year-old driver was arrested. Officers seized the 18-wheeler.

This afternoon, they unloaded and separated the drugs and mangos. The 35,000 pounds of fruit will be thrown out because it came into contact with the marijuana.
