(5/09/07 - KTRK/HOUSTON) (KTRK) -- Parents of students at Nimitz High School are being told that a student brought a gun to school on Thursday.
In a letter to parents, school officials say another student saw that student with a gun. The other student immediately told a faculty member. The student was questioned and told officials he took the gun to school for protection in the neighborhood.
The student was still arrested since possessing a weapon on campus is a violation of state law.
