(5/23/07 - KTRK/HOUSTON) (KTRK) -- A serial predator may have struck again on the north side overnight. Police are searching for a man who breaks into homes and crawls into bed with women and children.
Police say the man is responsible for 10 sexually oriented attacks in the same area. The latest incident happened on Firnat and Lomax in north Houston. In this case, police are still trying to determine if this is connected to all of the other incidents.
Authorities say the MO is very familiar to the prior incidents. The mother woke up after noticing something was wrong.
"She woke up to the sound of movement in her kitchen and she noticed an unknown male standing there, staring at her and her daughter while they were asleep," said Becky Harris with the Houston Police Department juvenile sex crimes division.
"And she screamed and he took off the same way that he came in?" we asked.
"Well, she screamed for her husband. He didn't move immediately," said Harris. "He continued to stare, but when the husband came out of the room to approach him, that's when he made an immediate exit."
Authorities are interviewing the mother and daughter in this case to gather more detailed information on what exactly happened.
Earlier in the morning, a neighbor called into police saying that she saw a man standing in her yard. Authorities believe it may be the same man.
Authorities searched the area for hours with K-9 units. The dogs did pick up a scent and they followed that scent for about a mile or so before losing it.
