Drivers suffer car trouble from gas tainted by rainwater

Tuesday, May 29, 2007

Problems at the pump left several motorists stranded in west Houston Tuesday morning.

Those motorists say they pumped bad gas at the Power Fuel gas station on Dairy Ashford at Richmond. We're told Monday's rain caused water to get into the fuel pumps.

Stranded drivers told Eyewitness News that after they pumped that gas into their vehicles, they immediately realized something was wrong.

"It was like clattering or whatever every time I tried to crank it up, start it up, it was like it wasn't getting the gas," explained driver Kathy Harris. "So I thought maybe the gas, you know, maybe hadn't made it up there. Then it just stopped."

The owner of the gas station is paying for any damage the bad gas did to vehicles. Crews spent the day getting water out of the gas pumps.
