Driver ejected from car after losing control during apparent race

(6/20/07 - KTRK/HOUSTON) (KTRK) -- Police say an apparent street race ended in a near fatal crash early this morning in southwest Houston.

It happened on Bissonnet and Beckford. Eyewitnesses say a Trans Am was racing another vehicle, when the driver of the Trans Am lost control and hit a pickup truck sitting in a gas station parking lot.

The driver was ejected from the car and taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital. No one was inside the parked truck at the time of the crash.
