HCC trustee facing criminal charges

Saturday, June 23, 2007

A Houston Community College trustee is facing criminal charges.

Court records confirm that HCC trustee Jay Aiyer was charged with tampering with a government document earlier this week. Sources say the charge stems from a campaign finance complaint related to Aiyer's council race back in 2005.

Reached on the phone tonight, Aiyer says he is taking the charges very seriously. However, he is confident that the issue will be resolved quickly.

Aiyer says he is talking with his legal advisors and cannot comment specifically on the charges at this time.ABC13's Miya Shay is discussing the charges on her blog. To read more about the charges, see her latest post.
