(6/29/07 - HOUSTON) -- Four firefighters suffered minor injuries in a blaze that damaged the home of Texas Supreme Court Justice David Medina and two other residences, an investigator said Friday.
Harris County fire investigator Nathan Green told The Associated Press that the blaze started Thursday night in the garage of the justice's house.
The cause of the blaze was not immediately known, although Green said the fire is not thought to be suspicious.
Medina's wife and son were the only ones in the family's residence and both escaped unharmed, Green said.
The fire heavily damaged the Medina house and a neighboring home, destroyed the Medinas' 3-car garage and one vehicle in the driveway, Green said. It also caused slight damage to another residence.
Medina did not immediately return a call Friday for comment.
Court administrative assistant Nadine Schneider told the AP that she spoke with Medina and "he said everyone is fine." Medina has relatives in the Houston area, where his family will stay, Schneider said.
Green said one firefighter sprained his wrist. Another was treated for smoke inhalation and another suffered heat exhaustion. He did not have details on injuries to the fourth firefighter.
