Coast Guard rescues six boaters in Galveston Bay

Sunday, July 08, 2007

Six people were rescued after their boat ran aground in Galveston Bay.

Emergency crews tell Eyewitness News they were notified around 7pm yesterday that several boaters were stranded in Galveston Bay.

Authorities say the boaters started their trip in two separate vessels. But one boat had problems. That's when everyone climbed into the other boat. But that second vessel later ran aground.

The Coast Guard then rescued all six by hoisting them into a chopper. No one was hurt.
