Thursday, July 12, 2007

A young boy has been injured in a bizarre accident involving a utility pole.

Crews were removing the rotten wooden utility pole on 5th Street in Brazoria at around 10:30 this morning. A nine-year-old boy was riding his bike with a friend when the pole snapped at the base and fell across the street, hitting the boy.

The child was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital by Life Flight. He was reportedly alert after the accident. The boy's hip and leg were injured.

Power to the pole was disconnected at the time.
